Well this has been a crazy afternoon.
Around 3 PM eastern time, 98.5 The Sports Hub became the first outlet to report that Tom Brady had been injured on a deep throw to Aaron Dobson. At first it seemed that Brady has simply aggravated his knee when planting but within a little over an hour, a brief video surfaced showing that contrary to initial belief, Brady HAD been hit...by his own player.
"You always stay away from the quarterback" Tampa linemen: Adrian Clayborne said post-game but in truth even he violated that order. Upon the whistle, he 'bull rushed' Pats linemen: Nate Solder pushing him back and unintentionally shoving him ONTO Brady's knee.
Things looked bad as when you looked at it, should Tom Brady be out of the lineup for any extended period of time, New England could be screwed. Why? Because they have no backups. Yet right as our heads began to explode, team president: Jonathon Kraft came onto the Sports Hub to soothe our woes.
"I don’t believe it’s serious" Kraft said.
Now it wasn't anything definitive but in a way it was. At that point we knew that if the Patriot's star QB had torn his ACL, Kraft would not have flat out lied. He would have told the world that there WAS an injury and even while remaining true to Bill Belicheck's wishes he would not have divulged the information that he did.
So things were beginning to look better, maybe it will just be week 2 maybe just the preseason when he return's...but now, maybe not at all. In a widely reported tidbit of information, it was made clear that an MRI on Brady's knee had come back negative and that he will not miss any regular season games.
"Timetable on Brady's knee sprain is still unclear. MRI came back clean. More tests tonight." Tweeted Albert Breer just after 6:15, "Doesn't mean it won't bother him, but should be fine." He had also previously tweeted.
Breer was then backed up by Herald writer: Jeff Howe "The Patriots 'won't know for a couple days' how long Brady will be out, a source tells @kguregian." he said.
Today was a weird one. In the blink of an eye we were brought to a point of holding our breaths in fear and then rescued by a couple of saving tweets but most importantly we were remind of something we haven't really appreciated to the extent that we did today.
A life without Tom Brady would and will be scary, no matter when it comes.
