Despite practicing for the first time in over a week Monday, Bruins center David Krejci will remain out of the lineup Tuesday vs. the Nashville Predators.
The absence will mark his 11th straight and the 16thin the last 18 games since he suffered a undisclosed lower body injury early last month. Since then, the Bruins have struggled noticeably with several forwards being moved around in an attempt to fill Krejci’s shoes.
The team, recognizing the detriment that his prolonged truancy has brought them, has been keeping a keen eye on Krejci anxiously awaiting the earliest possible point at which he could be plugged back into the lineup.
Earlier this week, Bruins coach Claude Jullian spoke about whether or not Krejci would make his return during the three game road trip that the Bruins kick off vs. Nashville.
“I hope so. I can’t guarantee that though. I hope so,” he said.
Julian’s wish was spurred by the sudden appearance of David Krejci at the Bruins practice on Monday. He jumped in midway through the practices and took part in rushes with his line-mates but did not finish the practice as he was replaced by rookie Craig Cunningham.
Though no official announcement was made, Krejci appeared to feel lingering soreness during the practice.
Said soreness during the practice likely contributed to the Bruins decision to hold him out of the lineup vs. Nashville. Needless to say, progress was made this week when Krejci practiced. His return could occur at some point during this three game road trip that concludes on Friday. The Bruins organization however has stood pat in its refusal to voice any actual dates.
“Day by day, as far as I'm concerned. Not in today, so I can confirm that," Coach Julien said Tuesday
