Monday, 3 people are killed, and an additional 183 are brutally injured in an attack eerily similar to a 2001 one that ended up taking the lives of thousands upon thousands of innocent New York civilians. 4 days later, mere hours after the FBI released the pictures of the two men suspected of planting these bombs, those two men raided a convenience store, hijacking a car a robbing the owner of over 800$ before moving on to bloodlessly murder an innocent 26 year old MIT official. Within hours the cops had chased the two fugitives to the Boston Metro establishment of Watertown where the men, later learned to be Tamerlan Tsarnaev and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, got out of their car and proceeded to open fire on police loosing upwards of 100 rounds and lobbing several homemade grenades into the crowd of police standing before them.
Over the course of the next near 24 hours, Boston was consumed with a state of lock-down as despite bomber Tamerlan being killed during the shootout, the remening suspect Dzhokhar was still on the loose as until yet another shootout just after 7 PM the next evening eventually led to the surrender and capture of a bloodied Dzhokhar.
Yet less than 24 hours after that brutal fire fight, and after having a game cancelled for the 3rd time this year the Boston Bruins took to the ice today with much more than a game on the line. Nonetheless over the next some 2 hours the Bruins debuted a string of new player and schemes as they looked to win their first game in over a week. Long story shot they didn't. Even with the new addition of Carl Soderburg and the awaited return of guys like Chris Kelly and McQuaid the bruins fell 3-2 to the Penguins loosing their 4th straight and falling 2 points behind the division leading Canadians and putting themselves in a pretty bad positions going into next week.
To say that this has been a rough week in Boston would be an understatement. Yet through this week of terror, death and unimaginable fear like they did in the immediate wake of Mondays bombings those effected by yesterdays shootout and ensuing manhunt turned to the world of sports, and heck that world was more than willing to accept them.
